BREAKIN

This is a hi-energy spectacular free-style dance. You'll learn a range of moves: basic top rock steps; six step; some popping & locking moves right thru to power moves (back spins, head spins etc).

Although this is billed as a beginners class there is a wide range of people of varying levels of experience attending the class..

However, you don't need any previous experience to start and obviously nobody expects you go straight to power moves! It's up to you how far you take it.

If you have experience in gymnastics that's a bonus but it's not absolutely necessary.

You'll be taken through a good warm up and then shown some basic moves to get you started. Because it's a freestyle dance, you don't work on a choreographed piece but you build up a vocabulary of moves to create your own style and dance. So the teachers rotate round people in the class working individually or with 2-3 people at a time and then leave you to practice while they move on to the next person/group.

The classes are taught by Chris Maule & Steven Sinclair of The Flying Jalapenos. Both are enthusiastic and dedicated teachers and performers.

TIMETABLE

ADULT BEGINNERS: Wednesdays 8.30 - 9.30pm

KIDS BEGINNERS: Tuesdays 5.30-6.30pm

The Kid's class is for P4+ and we do have a wide age range. However it does require a fair amount of self-discipline on the kids part because they are left to practice what they've been taught while the teachers move round the group. Teens can attend the adult classes.

WHAT TO WEAR? Trackies, baggy jeans or combats; T-shirts, trainers etc. (please bring a clean pair of trainers which you don't use for outdoors - to keep the floor clean for the next class)

We recommend that you get some knee & elbow pads - go for the volley ball variety which are soft & flexible - available from good sports shops.
