FUNKSTYLES - Lockin 'n Poppin (Bodypopping)
With Chris Maule & David (Tesko) Wark
Any Streetdancer worth his salt uses this in their dance - Usher, Ne-yo in fact practically everyone. This is an essential part of streetdance - from glides (moonwalking) to all those undulating arm moves. You'll get a taste of it in all the street classes but this is where you really get a chance to focus and learn some great sequences & techniques.
Maule and Tesko take you back to the original moves that started it all. Both of these dances (Lockin & Poppin) are Funkstyles, styles of dance that came from the funk era of the 1970’s West coast America & what most people thing of as "Bodypopping" , but are also considered to be part of Hip-Hop dancing as well as B-boying, the original Hip-Hop dance.
These dances are more upright than B-boying but will include some floorwork although we will concentrate mainly on the basics up top before we get down for the get down…..Feel the funk y’all!
