This is a fantastic freestyle dance. You learn to dance on your own as well as with a partner.
Taught by Karen, these are very popular and great fun classes. They don't pin you down to one particular style of salsa. You will be taught a generic style which allows you to dance with anyone. The biggest influences however are from Cuban & Colombian styles. It's more subtle and earthy but at the same time slick and dynamic.
You'll be taken through basic footwork as your warm up and then on to the partnerwork. You'll be amazed at what you can pick up in a single lesson. You don't need to bring a partner - you'll change partners several times during the class so you get the chance to dance with different people. We can't guarantee an even number of men and ladies but we do make everyone change partners regularly so nobody is left out for long.
Tuesday classes are followed by a practice session in the cafe.
FRIDAYS 8.30-9.30pm Adult Beginners
.....with pre-club downstairs in La Bodega until midnight...
The Friday classes are followed by a pre-club in the cafe until Midnight - so even more of a social event. Price £7/£6 conc for the class but it's free entry to the pre-club so it's open to anyone who just wants to come along for a dance! Great sounds on from 7pm as well as delicious tapas.
WHAT TO WEAR? Cool & Casual. This is a social dance so lots of people dress for an evening out others wear sports gear (especially if they're doing another class on the same evening). Shoes - a smooth sole shoe is best. For ladies - the same with a small heel. However, go for comfort first. Some people wear jazz sneakers and trainers are ok although they're not so easy to turn in.
